The book is being produced by Day Eight to further the mission of the magazine, including encouraging participation in the arts. C is for Cuisine des Artistes
There are few events that two of my favorite things in the world get to combine.  Art and Food. This is one of them.  I'm getting the amazing opportunity through DCAC's Biennial fundraiser to work with one of DC's finest chefs, Rahman "Rock" Harper, Executive Chef of DC Central Kitchen (another very worthy cause) and Season 3 winner of Hell's Kitchen.  We are creating a collaboration titled Bread and Water, a contemporary twist on an old classic of tomato soup and grilled cheese.

Don’t miss their unique fundraising event featuring performing artists, design by visual artists, and food created by culinary masters in an evening of surprise and delight.

Singles Faire #8 - mixed media on metro card copyright 2011

Singles Faire is a new series of work that reconstructs narratives from visual instructions of physical therapy into scenes of enticement towards the opposite sex.  The inherent ambiguity of non-verbal communication leaves these small works open to multiple interpretations, from humor to repulsion.    The paintings are created on New York and Washington, DC, metro cards, paper and wood panels using a variety of techniques including media transfer, watercolor, and drawing.

Singles Faire is part of the 5th Annual DC SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day celebration of women artists. Not My Sister is comprised of a family of South Asian women from the Washington DC metro area. Their sound has been described as the Shangri-Las meet Indie pop, and as "intelligent and genetically in sync."

For more information about the exhibition, please contact Jenny at jenny.walton@gmail.com

DC SWAN Day 2012 is made possible by a grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.  For more information about SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day events happening around the world, please visit www.SwanDay.org.
